Wazala is a personal blog. The tutorials, colour guides and ideas here come from projects in my own home and are published as general information and inspiration. They are not professional advice. A room that behaved one way in my house can behave differently in yours, and part of being a good DIYer is checking the details against your own situation before you spend money or pick up a tool.

DIY and safety: the serious part

I take care to write steps accurately, but no blog post can watch you work. Please:

follow the instructions that come with your tools, paints and products; they win over anything written here,
wear the protective gear the job calls for: eye protection, gloves, a mask when you sand or spray, and hearing protection with loud tools,
keep work areas ventilated, especially with paints, strippers and adhesives,
leave electrical work, plumbing, gas and structural changes to licensed professionals. Those jobs have rules that exist for good reason, and a tutorial is not a licence.

You are responsible for your own safety and for the results of any project you take on after reading this site.

Accuracy: things change, screens lie a little

I check prices, measurements and product details when a post is written, and each post carries its date. Prices go up and down, products get reformulated or discontinued, and a cost that was true in my town may not match yours. Treat every figure as a guide, and confirm the current price at the shop before budgeting.

Paint colours deserve a special warning: they look different on every screen, every phone and every wall. The swatches and room photos here will get you close, but the only reliable test is a sample pot on your own wall, looked at in morning and evening light. Please do not buy five litres based on a photograph. I say this as someone who has.

Affiliate links and Favorite Finds

Wazala does not sell products directly. The Favorite Finds section will link out to shops where you can buy things I use and like. Some of those links may become affiliate links, which means that if you buy through them, the shop may pay me a small commission at no extra cost to you. When that starts, the pages will say so clearly at the top, and affiliate links will never be disguised as editorial picks I have not used. A commission never buys a recommendation: if something disappointed me, it either gets an honest mention of why, or it does not appear.

Advertising

At the time this page was last updated, Wazala carries no third-party advertising. If ads are added later, they will be placed so they are recognisable as ads, and this page and the privacy policy will be updated to say what is running.
